Nursery Rhyme Themes Are Great for Baby Showers

Nursery rhyme themes are perennially favorites. There’s so much to chose from! Everyone knows the rhymes from childhood and everyone has a favorite.

Twinkle, twinkle little star

The new arrival is the little shining star. Decorate with midnight blue and yellow stars. You can cut out stars from construction paper, spray on glue and shake glitter on them to make them twinkle. Hang them the stars across the ceiling. Purchase star filled paper plates, cups, and napkins. Serve Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star punch floating with yellow stars. Order a star shaped cake, or bake one yourself with a special pan. Wilton carries a star-shaped pan and I've seen others on the Internet. The cake can double as the centerpiece. Use about 2 yards of yellow tulle, which can be purchased very inexpensively at a fabric shop, to go on the table around the outside of the cake. Weave in some twinkle Christmas lights for a real twinkle twinkle.

Mother Goose

With the Mother Goose theme, you can incorporate several nursery rhymes into the theme. Humpty Dumpty, The Cow Jumped Over the Moon, Mary Had a Little Lamb are just a few nursery rhymes that have theme possibilities. If the mommy-to-be is decorating the nursery with this theme also, borrow items from her such as nursery themed comforter, lamp, or wall hangings to round out the decorations. Set books of nursery rhymes out on tables for decoration.

Jack and Jill nursery rhyme theme is great for a co-ed baby shower. Insert a food safe container inside a real bucket and use it as the punch bowl. Don’t forget the crown!

There are numerous party supplies that feature nursery rhymes on paper plates, napkins, cups, and decorations.

And Many More!

Childhood songs can also be an inspiration. Think of the following songs and let your creativity flow.

  • A Tisket, A Tasket
  • Pop Goes the Weasel
  • Hush Little Baby Don’t You Cry
  • Framer in the Dell
  • The Alphabet Song
  • Inky Dinky Spider
  • Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush
  • Old MacDonald Had A Farm
  • Ring Around the Rosey
