Thinking of Hosting a Baby
Shower?
In Emily Post's day, there were very
strict rules about hosting a baby shower. Then, it was
considered improper to give a shower for a member of the
family. A shower is a gift receiving event and the family
didn't want to look like they were asking for gifts, so it used
to be hosted only by someone outside of the family.
But not today! Today, the shower is usually
hosted by someone who is close to the new mom. Any relative,
friend, neighbor, or co-worker can act as host. Even mothers or
sisters can give the party for the new mommy.
I hosted a baby shower for my own daugther when
she was pregnant with her first baby. I didn't give it a second
thought...and neither did my guests.
And while I'm talking about women, taking care
and loving each other as women is so important. Check out

Before you make too many plans, you might want to take a look
at etiquette.
Now
that the issue of hosting a baby shower is settled,
the next step is to set the budget for the
shower.
